June 2026 Coastal Retreat (Friday 6/12 - Monday 6/15)
Join us for our first ever outdoor camping retreat! At a beautiful secluded spot at Point Mugu (just off route 1 North of Malibu) where our stillness can harmonize with the sound of the waves and scenic bluffs all around us (with ample hiking paths to get lost in right off the site).
The retreat will include zazen (of course), yoga, dharma talks, opportunity for one-on-one practice discussion with a teacher, delicious (and nutritious) homemade food, traditional chanting services of ancient epic poetry, quality community time, and this year, quality time with mother nature. As always this will be a silent retreat to allow us to let go and fully immerse in the surroundings and community in a deeper way then we normally get to in our daily lives.
The schedule is designed to be accessible and engaging to practitioners of all experience levels (including none), with just the right amount of meditation to allow us to deeply sink in to the heart of the practice, but not so much that it becomes an exercise in mere endurance.
Accommodations will be in shared dorm tents. All meals and snacks will be provided (though feel free to bring whatever you think you might miss), and the schedule this year includes breaks so that participants can enjoy the natural surroundings at your leisure.
Accessibility for all who would like to attend is always a core goal:
- Registration, as always, is on a sliding scale basis. Please keep in mind that paying a little more allows us to offer discounted rates to those of lesser means (also since this is our first outdoor retreat we have a few extra expenses for the camping infrastructure this round, so everything helps!)
- We strongly encourage full attendance, as everyone participating in the schedule is part of what makes the experience for the group. But if partial attendance is the only way you can make the weekend, please let us know.
