To celebrate the traditional anniversary of Buddha's enlightenment, we will party the same way Buddha did. By meditating all night! As always, come for as much or as little as you like. If you plan on staying the whole night and want to stay the next morning into 10am yoga, bring a toothbrush...
We will start at 8:30 with tea and a talk about Buddha and what happened to him on rohatsu, then there will be a couple of hours of structured half hour sits with walking meditation. Starting around 11:30 it will be freestyle sitting. Get up and stretch or walk around as you like, take a walk outside, enjoy snacks and tea, and of course sit through the sleepy hours. Meditation makes a lot more (or enjoyably less?) sense around 2am when the line between sleep and waking, dreaming and thinking, is only as important as whether or not you can keep your balance on your cushion. Laying down for a quick nap in the zendo is also allowed! We will be serving a special rice milk cocoa to honor Buddha's story and help fuel and focus the evening's sitting.
